Sefer Yesod on the Laws of Niddah – ”Sidrei Taharah, ” First Edition. Berlin, 1783. - Sefer ”Sidrei Taharah” – one of the most fundamental and important works on the laws of Niddah, by the gaon Rabbi Elchonon Ashkenazi, Av Beis Din of Shotland. The work is divided into two parts: ”Sidrei Taharah” on the laws of Niddah in Shulchan Oruch, Yoreh De'ah, and ”Chiddudei Halochos” on Maseches Niddah. The author was a disciple of the gaon Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch Charif, author of ”Kos Yeshuos, ” and the gaon Rabbi Yaakov Poppers, author of ”Shev Yaakov.” The sefer was printed with the rare approbations of the gaon Rabbi Pinchos Horowitz, author of ”Hafla'ah, ” and the gaon Rabbi Yaakov Shims of Frankfurt. From the time of its publication, the sefer was received with great acclaim throughout the halachic world and became one of the foundational works on the laws of Niddah. The leading poskim discussed its rulings extensively, and over the generations it was incorporated into numerous editions of the Shulchan Oruch as one of the principal commentaries on Yoreh De'ah.
