Imrei Binah – author’s dedication by Rabbi Meir Auerbach to the author of Yeshuos Malko. First edition, Jerusalem, 1876. - Imrei Binah, Part II – novellae on Shulchan Aruch, Choshen Mishpat, by the gaon Rabbi Meir Auerbach, Av Beis Din of Kalisz and Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem. Jerusalem, 1876ץ First edition. At the head of the title page appears an important dedication in the author’s own handwriting and signature. Part of the inscription has been trimmed by the page margin, and it includes, among others, the following wording: “…the famous in all corners of the earth… author of Yeshuos Yisrael, Av Beis Din of Kotna, may he live long and good years… that he accept it favorably with God’s help.” The dedication is addressed to the gaon Rabbi Yisrael Yehoshua Trunk [1821–1893], Av Beis Din of Kotna, author of Yeshuos Malcho and Yeshuos Yisrael, among the leading halachic authorities of his generation in Poland. He was closely connected with the great tzaddikim of Poland, including the Chidushei HaRim and the Avnei Nezer, was among the early supporters of the idea of settlement in Eretz Yisrael, and even visited the Holy Land. Among his leading disciples was the gaon Rabbi Meir Dan Plotsky, author of Kli Chemdah. On the title page appears as well the signature of the gaon Rabbi Menachem Mendel Greenberg, Av Beis Din of Vilohan for nearly forty years, regarded by his contemporaries as possessing exceptional powers as a “po’el yeshuos”. The author, the gaon Rabbi Meir Auerbach (1815–1878), was among the leading sages of his generation. He served as Av Beis Din of Kalisz, and in 1859 ascended to Eretz Yisrael, becoming the first official Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem. Alongside his outstanding halachic stature, he was also versed in Kabbalah and counted among the sages of the Beis El yeshiva. Shoshana Halevi, no. 268. [2], 244 leaves. 36 cm.
