Selichos of Rabbi Tzvi Aryeh (Hirsch Leib) Lippel – one of the distinguished figures of the previous generation of Breslov Chasidism. - “Seder Selichot le-Yamim Nora’im keminhag Polin Gadol u-Polin Katan” – the author’s personal copy of the chassid Rabbi Tzvi Aryeh (Hirsch Leib) Lippel, with his signature on the title page. Rabbi Hirsch Leib (Tzvi Aryeh) Lippel (d. 1980) was among the veteran Breslov chassidim in Eretz Yisrael. Born in Lodz to his father Rabbi Aharon Betzalel, a chassid of Radomsk, in his youth he was drawn to Breslov chassidut after studying Meshivat Nefesh by Rabbi Alter of Teflik, and from then on he adhered to the teachings of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov. He was known for his exceptional diligence in Torah study and meticulous observance of halachah. It is told that before joining Breslov he asked the Chafetz Chaim which chassidic path one should follow, and was answered that he should choose a chassidut that is strict in the observance of Shulchan Aruch—upon which he chose Breslov chassidut. In 1923 he married the daughter of the chassid Rabbi Aharon Kublitcher. The wedding was held in Uman, near the grave of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov. For many years he completed Likkutei Halachot annually, making the siyum on the yahrtzeit of Rabbi Natan of Breslov, on the 10th of Tevet. After many attempts he immigrated to Eretz Yisrael in 1934 and settled in the Old City of Jerusalem. During the Communist regime he refused to send his children to government educational institutions and educated them at home in the spirit of tradition. In Eretz Yisrael he became known as a man of both work and Torah, devoted to study and hitbodedut, and regularly frequented the Tomb of King David and the grave of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai in Meron. He passed away on 23 Cheshvan 1980 and was buried on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem. 63 pages. Soft cardboard binding. Good condition.
