At the end of the volume appears the section Zikaron LaRishonim, containing glosses “of unknown holy origin” found on the pages of Tur Choshen Mishpat, as well as glosses by Rabbi Moshe Galanti the First – the Magan – on Shulchan Aruch Choshen Mishpat, and glosses by Rabbi Chaim Modai on Knesses HaGedolah. The gaon Rabbi Moshe Galanti, Av Beis Din of Damascus, was among the leading sages of the Land of Aram in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. He was the son of the gaon Rabbi Mordechai Galanti, Av Beis Din of Damascus. In his early years he taught Torah in Aleppo, and later returned to Damascus, where he was appointed Av Beis Din after his father’s passing in 1781 (Tav Kuf Mem Aleph). He conducted halachic correspondence with the leading sages of his generation, including Rabbi Moshe Yosef Mordechai Meyuchas and Rabbi Raphael Laniado, among others. Rabbi Yitzchak Abulafia refers to him in his responsa as “the great of the generation” and author of “the awesome sefer.” His primary fame stems from the responsa volume BeRach Moshe, printed in Livorno in 1809, as well as the homiletic work Kol Moshe. The Galanti family is among the distinguished rabbinic families, and Rabbi Moshe was the seventh generation from the gaon Rabbi Avraham Galanti. Collation: [2], 169 leaves. Size: 31 cm. New binding.
