הרב חיים יוסף דוד אֲזוּלַאי (בראשי תיבות: חִידָ"א; ה'תפ"ד – י"א באדר ה'תקס"ו; 1724 – 1 במרץ 1806) היה פוסק הלכה שד"ר ומקובל. חיבר עשרות ספרים בתחומים תורניים מגוונים, וכן חיבור ביבליוגרפי וחיבור אוטוביוגרפי.
את מסעותיו הארוכים תיעד החיד"א ביומן מסע שכתב לעצמו בשם "מעגל טוב". בד' שבט ה'תקי"ג (20 בינואר 1752) יצא אל מסעו הראשון לטובת הקהילה בחברון, שנמשך שש שנים, וחזר לירושלים ביום ד' ניסן ה'תקי"ח (12 באפריל 1758). בשנת ה'תקכ"א (1761) הוצעה לחיד"א משרת ה'חכם' בקהילה הספרדית והפורטוגזית באמסטרדם, החשובה והעשירה מבין הקהילות הספרדיות בעולם, אך הוא סירב להצעה ונשאר כמה שנים בירושלים וכיהן בה כדיין.
