Antique Sterling Silver Celebration Bowl - Item/Description: Antique French celebration presentation bowl fashioned from Sterling Silver and set with two medals. The bottom copper medal features Charles-Louis de Secondat, Baron de la Brède et de Montesquieu (1689-1755) a French philosopher, author, and political theorist who is considered one of the most influential thinkers of the Enlightenment. The bust of Montesquieu is depicted in profile, under a banner bearing his name and title: Carol. De Secondat De Montesqviev. The base is a bronze medal depicting the personifications of Truth and Justice by Swiss medalist, Jacques Antoine Dassier, dated 1753. The Latin phrase Hinc Ivra. Hallmarked on rim: Sterling Material: Sterling Silver, Copper, Bronze Dimensions: Height: 1 1/2”; Width: 4”; Depth: 1 1/2”; approximately 101 grams Condition: Very Good. Signs of age, use and surface wear including scratches, scuffs, patina, oxidation, bowl slightly out of round.
