Nicholas Haydon N.Y.C. Orientalist Footed Matchbox - Item/Description: Antique Nicholas Haydon footed matchbox holder. Orientalist design, rectangular shape. Gilt brass with embossed floral and vines embellishment. Accented with a green moss hued slice of carved jade stone, bezel set into a raised filigree mounting. The box rests on four tortoise feet. Matchbox chamber currently holds a vintage matchbox of red-tipped Ohio Safety Matches. Hallmarked: Nicholas Haydon 29 W’T 56th St. N.Y.C. to the underside. Material: Gilt Brass, Jade Dimensions: Length: 3”; Width: 2”; Height: 1” Condition: Signs of age, use and wear including scuffs, scratches, patina, tarnish, missing segment of setting lip around stone.
