1870s French Brass Handled Bayonet & Scabbard - Item/Description: French military officer's bayonet with brass handle. Hilt marked D 97445 / ”G” in a shield and with additional makers marks. Blade marked with a circled ”B” and an (S or G) with crown in a circle on one side and a ”2” the other. Metal scabbard marked: D 97445 / Y 35. (M1866, Yataghan, Chassepot) Material: Brass, Metal Dimensions: Overall Length: 28”; Width: 3 3/4”. Bayonet Length: 27 1/4”. Blade Length: 22 1/2” Condition: Signs of age and wear include surface scratches, scuffing, oxidation, pitting, and denting.
