19th c. Currier & Ives Two Kittens in Lilacs Print - Item/Description: Late 1800s Currier & Ives black and white lithograph depicting two kittens in lilacs with a little brown mouse. Titled: ”Two Little Fraid Cats.” Lithograph on paper in wooden frame. Nathaniel Currier (American, 1813-1888) and James Merritt Ives (American, 1824-1895) founded the American printmaking firm Currier and Ives in New York City. Famous for its hand-colored affordable lithographs, the firm produced a wide variety of prints, with animal subjects, especially cats, being very popular among Victorians in the 19th century.
