Miniature 18th C Portrait on Calf Skin Vellum - Item/Description: Antique hand painted miniature, finely detailed 18th-century portrait depicting an elegant lady with curled hair, wearing a large hat adorned with white feathers and a lace-trimmed coat. The thin sheet of calf skin vellum has cracks and is mounted to a piece of leather, framed in a twisted wire brass frame. Written along the right side is the name of the subject, Georgette Devonshire / 1789. (English School, Georgiana Duchess of Devonshire after Thomas Gainsborough, Portraiture Late Georgian to Early Victorian Period) Material: Watercolor on Calf Skin Vellum, Brass Frame Dimensions: Image size: Height: 5 1/4”; Width: 3 3/4”.
