Cenedese Signed Blue Murano Swirl Glass Vase - Item/Description: Vintage Cenedese hand-blown cobalt blue vase featuring a distinctive onion shape with a bulbous lower body and slender neck, adorned with a striking white swirled design and weathered texture. The piece exhibits a crackle-glazed finish on the lower section, highlighting its craftsmanship and artistic flair. Crafted by the renowned Murano glassmaker Cenedese, this vase showcases the signature ”scavo” technique, giving it an aged, frosted textured appearance that has become a hallmark of the manufacturer since the late 1940s. Cenedese began using the distinctive ”scavo” (meaning ”dug up” in Italian) technique to create an aged, archeological appearance for their vases in the late 1940s and early 1950s. They were among the pioneers of this style, which was highly popular throughout the Mid-Century Modern period, continued to be a signature part of Cenedese's production for several decades. Founded in 1946 by Gino Cenedese, the Venetian company is celebrated for its high-quality glass art and has maintained its reputation for excellence as Ars Cenedese Murano, currently operated by the Seguso Viro group.
