Eisch German Blue & Yellow Prunts Art Glass Bowl - Item/Description: German Eisch hand-blown cobalt blue art glass bowl featuring an opaque or frosted finish with contrasting transparent yellow applied ”prunts” (decorative blobs of glass) around the exterior. The artist combined the style of prunts, a signature element of traditional German and Dutch glassware, with a contemporary and Mid-Century Modern style. Underside marked Eisch, and is consistent with the style of Erwin Eisch. Erwin Eisch (German, 1927-2022) was a renowned German artist and a pioneering figure in the international studio glass movement. He is considered a co-founder of the movement in Europe, which aimed to liberate glass from purely utilitarian functions and establish it as a medium for artistic expression. His pieces are known for their expressiveness, use of color, and a whimsical sense of ”joie de vivre.” Eisch (officially Glashutte Valentin Eisch) is a family-owned German glass manufacturer based in Frauenau, Bavaria. The company has been in operation since 1946 and is currently managed by the third and fourth generations of the Eisch family.
