Wedgwood Creamware Hermes & Athena Busts - Item/Description: Wedgwood neoclassical busts depicting Hermes and Athena in Greek mythology, also known as Mercury and Minerva in Roman mythology. Hermes characterized by his winged helmet, is known as the messenger of the gods, and god of commerce and travelers. Athena, depicted with a helmet and armor, is known as the goddess of wisdom, handicraft, and strategic warfare. Made by Wedgewood from their classic Queen's Ware or Creamware characterized by its glossy finish and cream color. Diminutive or library busts. Marked on base ”Wedgewood Barlaston England.” With ”3G45” visibly impressed on bottom of Athena bust. Material: Earthenware Dimensions: Length: 2 3/8”; Width: 2 1/4”; Height: 5” Condition: In good condition with some signs of age and wear include some scratches to bottom.
