Crockett Bit & Spur Co. Nickel Cowboy Spurs - Item/Description: Matched pair of vintage Crocket cowboy spurs with crafted from aluminum and original floral-tooled leather straps. Mid 20th century, circa 1951-1965. Spurs feature a curved heel band, a simple straight shank, and small multi-point star rowels. The distinctive hallmark ”CROCKETT” is stamped prominently on the upper edge of the heel band near the strap attachment. The design is characteristic of mid-century Western gear intended for both rodeo use and working cowboys. ”CROCKETT” mark stamped on the heel band's inner rim was a classic hallmark used into the 1960s, prior to the full integration and rebranding of the company after its sale to James Renalde. Oscar Crockett (American, 1887-1949) founded the Crockett Bit and Spur Company in 1920 in Kansas City. After his death in 1949, the business was sold to James Renalde in 1951. Renalde later acquired the Kelly Bit and Spur Co. in 1965, eventually forming the Crockett-Renalde and Kelly brand.
