Japanese Satsuma Moriage Vase, Taisho Period - Item/Description: Japanese Satsuma moriage vase, Taisho period, early 20th century. Ovoid earthenware body with a flared, scalloped rim and twin sculptural scroll handles at the neck. Primary face features a large figural scene of geishas in traditional patterned kimono within a stylized landscape of rolling hills and clouds. Reverse displays a continuous floral composition of oversized, multi-colored blossoms and deep green foliage that wrap around the ovoid body, maintaining the same cream crackle-glaze ground and textured moriage. Neck and foot are further embellished with bold floral blossoms and traditional mountain motifs, set against a characteristic cream-colored crackle-glaze ground. Base marked with characters.
