1940s Pottery Guild ”Dutch Sailor Boy” Cookie Jar - Item/Description: Vintage 1940s Pottery Guild of America ”Dutch Sailor Boy” cookie jar. Large-scale hand-painted earthenware cookie jar featuring a stylized blonde sailor in a white double-breasted jacket with red accents. Lower half of the figure forms the bulbous brown trousers that serve as the jar's base, while the torso and head act as the removable lid. Produced by the Pottery Guild of America (Cronin China Co.), these jars are iconic examples of mid-century American kitchenware. Often referred to as the ”Dutch Boy, ” ”Sailor Boy, ” or sometimes by the name ”Drake”.
