John Eldred Revolutionary War Commemorative Plaque - Item/Description: Large bronze plaque inscribed ”John Eldred's one gun battery was mounted between these rocks 1775” and ”Placed by John Eldred chapter Daughters of the American Revolution 1930”. John Eldred shot a cannon at the passing British navy, killing a boatswain, which prompted the Brits to burn most of the houses to the ground on Ferry Road (Narragansett Avenue), Jamestown, Rhode Island in 1775.
