W.M. Read & Sons 1860 Staff & Field Officer Sword - Item/Description: American Civil War era M1980 officer's sword with scabbard. Ricasso stamped W.M. Read & Sons, Boston Mass. Features a regulation military pattern widely retailed in Boston from the Indian Wars through the Spanish-American War, characterized by a slender 29.5” diamond-section blade and a brass hilt with a stationary ”clamshell” guard featuring a Federal Eagle. Material: Steel, Brass Dimensions: Overall Length: 35 1/2”; Blade Length: 29.5” Condition: Signs of age and wear include surface scratches, scuffing, and oxidization.
