Antique Wooden Sock Stretchers / Dryers - Item/Description: Early 20th-century matching pair of antique provincial wooden hosiery drying boards, or sock blockers, traditionally utilized in commercial textile mills and domestic laundries alike to prevent the shrinkage of heavy wet wool socks. Flat-cut from single planks of smooth, lightweight softwood, each form is shaped into a stylized leg and foot outline with clean, rounded edges. Both pieces feature a single drilled ventilation hole at the top of the ankle stem to allow for easy hanging from outdoor clotheslines or laundry room drying racks.
