Kaufmann Sun-Purple Amethyst Glass Soda Bottle - Item/Description: An antique sun-purple amethyst glass Emil Kaufmann & Co. bottle, manufactured as a late 19th-century blown-and-molded cylindrical soda or water vessel with a crisp, multi-line horizontal embossed inscription reading ”EMIL KAUFMANN / PHILADELPHIA” along the lower body. Bottle exhibits a distinct lavender color profile, which developed naturally over time through the solarization of manganese minerals originally used as a glass clarifier in historical Pennsylvania factories.
