Merkelbach & Wick German Punch Bowl - Item/Description: Antique German Westerwald Salt-Glazed Stoneware lidded tureen / punch pot. Base marked with impressed roundel (M&W). Lidded punch bowl, or Bowletopf, is made from traditional grey stoneware featuring a high-fired salt glaze accented with vibrant cobalt blue details. Gothic font banner displays a classic, rhyming German drinking toast ”Nach alter Sitt', in durst'ger Mitt” (”According to old custom, in the midst of a thirsty company”) Often followed by ”drink all your worries away”. Material: Stoneware Dimensions: Length: 11”; Width: 14”; Height: 14 1/2” Condition: Signs of age and wear include surface scratches, scuffing, discoloration. Cracks to handle as seen in photo.
