סגולות אבני החושן - Sefer Goralot Urim VeTumim – manuscript. Sefer Goralot Urim VeTumim – manuscript. A handwritten copy of segulot and a book of goral copied from various sources. Manuscript of unknown origin. Opens with “אמר הצעיר יצחק קארו המחבר”. This is a transcription of the segulah of the stones of the Choshen from Toldot Yitzchak by R. Yitzchak Caro, uncle of Maran the Beit Yosef, in Parashat Tetzaveh. “ספר גורלות זה של אורים ותומים” This too is copied from an unusual work. Its title page reads: Sefer Urim VeTumim – the order of performing a goral through hints derived from the twelve stones of the Choshen, attributed to the seventy elders, which Israel used in the Second Temple. At the beginning of the book is a list of questions relating to the major [and lesser…] decisions of a person’s life, followed by tables of letters with instructions on how to receive an answer to each question. According to the introduction, this was the manner of response of the Urim VeTumim. It was printed in Dyhernfurth in 1728, where it is attributed to R.i Avraham ben Avraham of Adrianople. From that printing, various manuscripts were copied as well as later printings. At the end of the manuscript appear several segulot that were never printed: for the survival of children, for a barren woman. On the reverse side of the folio, a square of verses is drawn, intended to support the fulfillment of those segulot.
