‘You should buy yourselves this! (Ḥatam Sofer) – Sefer ha-Berit, Brin 1797, first edition. - Sefer ha-Berit, blended of every wisdom: matters of ethics and Kabbalah, the heavens, spheres, elements, the globe, the mineral and vegetable realms, living creatures, the human being and his senses, his knowledge and the powers of divine inspiration, the path of faith. Sefer ha-Berit was printed anonymously, and in time it became known that its author was the great Rabbi Pinḥas Eliyahu HaLevi Horowitz זצ”ל. The book contains wondrous knowledge in the disciplines of faith, halakhah, ethics, Kabbalah, nature, philosophy, information, and technology, as well as chapters of awe and service of God. Maran the Ḥatam Sofer זיע”א cherished this work greatly, and said to his grandson that it had once entered his mind to compose such a book for the benefit of his students; and when he saw Sefer ha-Berit he rejoiced greatly that time had been spared him, and after reviewing it from beginning to end he showed it to his students and said:  כי זה קנו לכם כל אשר חפץ למלאות ידיו מחכמות שונות, ואני ואתם נכיר טובה למחבר, שהרבה ביטול זמן הרווחתי במה שאיני מוכרח לחבר כזה בשבילכם (ספר חוט המשולש).
