The printing of the composition spanned about one hundred and forty years. The author managed to publish in his lifetime only the first parts – letters א-ד. The volumes of letters ו-מ were printed in Venice, in Reggio and in Livorno between 1795–1839 – several decades after the author’s passing; and the completion of the work – letters נ and onward – was done by the “Mekitzei Nirdamim” society in Lyck and in Berlin between 1864–1888. Rabbi Yitzḥak Lampronti [1679–1757], one of the great sages of Italy, was born in 1679 in Ferrara, Italy. A disciple of Rabbi Yehudah Briel. In 1710 he was ordained to the rabbinate and in 1743 he was chosen to serve as head of the Ferrara yeshivah. Details of the volumes: Volume I: letters א-ב. Part I: Venice, 1750.
