Addenda to the book “Devar Halachah” Lublin 1923, a gift from the author the Gaon R. A. Klatskin of Lublin. - The wondrous Gaon Rabbi Eliyahu Klatskin, Av Beit Din of Lublin (1852 – 17 Iyyar 1932), was renowned for his astonishing memory and was regarded as one of the great halachic authorities of his generation. In his old age, when his wife passed away in 1925, he sought to ascend to the Holy Land, and because of the great affection in which he was held by his flock in Poland, he was forced to flee in secret… He was considered the singular expert in matters of Agunot after the passing of the greay R. Yitzchak Elchanan of Kovno, and was compelled to deal extensively with such cases in the years following the First World War. In 1921 he published in Lublin the book “Devar Halachah” concerning the release of Agunot, and two years later he published the “Addenda” – an addition to that work. The copy before us is the Addenda volume, which the author gifted to the library of the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Berlin, which was transferred to the Etz Chaim Yeshivah in Jerusalem on 20 Adar 1930, as recorded by the librarian R. Mordechai Lerner within the book.
