Arugot Ha-Bosem, derashot on the Torah, Part I Authored by the holy Gaon Rabbi Moshe Grünwald of Khust, Khust, 1913. First edition - Arugat Ha-Bosem (First Part), novellae and derashot on the Books of Bereishit and Shemot, authored by the holy Gaon Rabbi Moshe Grünwald of Khust. Rabbi Moshe [son of Rabbi Amram] Grünwald (11 Shevat 5613 / 1853 – 7 Av 5670 / 1910) was among the great rabbis of Hungary. From a young age he studied in the yeshiva of Rabbi Menachem Katz, a disciple of the Chatam Sofer in Zeylem (today in Austria), and with his grandfather Rabbi Yosef Grünwald. From age sixteen he studied in the Pressburg Yeshiva under his eminent teacher the Ktav Sofer, together with his friend R. Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld, later the rabbi of Jerusalem. He was drawn to Chasidut, and traveled to the Rebbe of Shinova, to the Mahari and his son the Maharid of Belz, and to Rabbi Mordechai of Nadvorna. As a result he donned a shtreimel in the custom of the chassidim. In 5653 / 1893 he was appointed rabbi of the city of Khust in Hungary (today in western Ukraine). Under his leadership, the yeshiva in Khust became one of the great Hungarian yeshivot. Many of Hungary’s rabbis were his disciples. Students came to his yeshiva from outside Hungary as well, even from the United States. 24 cm [4], 204 leaves. Good condition.
