Tzeydah LaDerech – Warsaw 1858, first edition, very rare! Copy of the chief cantor of Rova, one of the great Chassidim of Kotsk! - “Tzeydah LaDerech” – containing ninety gates Anthologies in alphabetical order on matters of serving God By the holy Rav Rabbi Moshe son of Rabbi Chaim Wortman. Printed anonymously! The holy Rav Rabbi Moshe son of Rabbi Chaim Wortman, known as R. Moshe Kuznitzer, was a disciple of the holy Rav Rabbi Yerachmiel Meir of Peshischa and of the Seraph of Mogelnitza. He devoted himself greatly to composing and publishing books for Zikut HaRabim, at times without mentioning the author’s name. At the end of his life he ascended to the Land of Israel, and passed away in Jerusalem on Rosh Chodesh Iyar 1874, and rests on the Mount of Olives. This copy was issued by the author himself – and anonymously. Owners: On the flyleaf: “Belongs to our teacher Aaron Gedalyah Leib Gotshtein, Rava.” Below: “Tomashov”. In Latin letters: “Aharon Gedalyah Kantur górnyu – chief cantor.” Rabbi Aharon Gedalyah Gotshtein, an esteemed scholar, was the cantor of the city of Rava. He was known as a fierce Mitnaged, but later was swept up by the fiery spirit of the holy Rebbe of Kotsk and became a fervent chassid. R. Aharon Gedalyah was among the rare chassidim who merited praise from his master. It is told that the Seraph of Kotsk asked him whether, when he approached the lectern to officiate as Chazzan, he did not at times intend to find favor in the eyes of the women’s gallery… R. Aharon Gedalyah replied without hesitation: No! The holy Rav answered: I believe you, for I know you to be a straight and honest man… In this book all identifying signs converge: his name, the name of his city Rava, and his position as chief cantor!!! Additionally, the place-name Tomashov – the location of the court of the holy Rav of Kotsk in the early years of his leadership! Moreover, in Polish script it is written: Ahron Gedalya, Chief Cantor!!
