Workshop of Guiglielmo della Porta, Italy, 16th century, Christ in silver - Guglielmo della Porta (ca. 1500–1577) was an Italian architect and sculptor of the Mannerist era. Born into a renowned family related to the arts and crafts of stone. His father, Giovanni Battista della Porta, stood out as a sculptor. He did his apprenticeship in the workshop of his uncle Giovanni Giacomo della Porta in Genoa. Work with him on the construction of the Milan Cathedral. Around 1530 he was entrusted with the task of reproducing some works by Leonardo da Vinci. Back in Genoa, he perfected his drawing technique under the orders of the master Perin del Vaga, with whom he worked at the Palazzo Doria. Around 1537 he moved to Rome, where he came into contact with Sebastiano del Piombo, who recommended him to Miguel Ángel. He worked on the legs of Hercules Farnese, a sculpture found without his legs. Plays: Altar in the Chapel of Saint Peter and Saint Paul in the Cathedral of Genoa, 1534-1537. A triumphal arch with a niche that welcomes an enthroned Christ flanked by two apostles. Bust of Paulo III, multiple versions. One of them, ca. 1547, in white and yellow marble, is exhibited in the Museum of Capodimonte, Naples. Tomb of Paul III, in bronze and marble (St. Peter's Basilica), 1549-1575.
