Attribution by Mattia Preti "Salvator Mundi" Italian painting from the 17th century depicting the figure of the baby Jesus as Salvator Mundi (Savior of the World), surrounded by angels. In a cloudy sky, sitting on a throne of clouds, he holds a celestial globe in his right hand and a crucifix in his left. The painting represents the victory of faith over evil, a theme underlined by the Light that illuminates the Child Jesus in contrast to the darkness of the clouds. 67cm x 49cm oil on canvas, very good condition.
