Carved wooden and mother-of-pearl elephant - India, 20th century
Dimensions: 60 x 38 x 69 cm A magnificent figure of a richly decorated elephant, carved from wood with mother-of-pearl inlays forming intricate floral and geometric patterns. Every detail of the carving is a testament to the craftsmanship, from the sturdy legs to the luxuriously carved mantle that covers its body. The mother-of-pearl inlays contrast beautifully with the dark wood, creating a harmonious blend of textures and colours.
