17th Century Dutch School by Peter Nason - Lady with Cupid - Oil on canvas. Dimensions: 76 x 63 cm. With frame: 86 cm x 73 cm. Good condition. Pieter Nason (baptised 16 February 1612 in Amsterdam – 1688/90 in The Hague) was a Dutch painter. In 1639 he became a member of the Painters' Guild in The Hague and in 1656 he was one of the forty-seven members who founded the Pictura Society. According to a manuscript by Pieter Terwesten, it does not seem unlikely that Nason was a pupil of Jan van Ravensteyn; and his name is believed to have been erased from paintings since attributed to Mierevelt, Moreelse and, above all, Ravensteyn. It is certain that he painted the portrait of Prince Mauritz, governor of the Brazils, engraved by Houbraken, and those of Charles II of England, engraved by C. Van Dalen and Sandrart, and of the Great Elector.
