Flemish School of the 17th Century - The Judgment of Solomon - Oil on panel. Dimensions: 39.5 x 30.4 cm. Dimensions (with frame): 52 x 44 cm. This expressive oil on panel painting by a 17th-century Flemish artist vividly depicts The Judgment of Solomon, one of the best-known episodes from the Old Testament. The scene comes to life in a monumental interior, where King Solomon, enthroned and dressed in rich robes, delivers his famous verdict to the two women disputing the maternity of a child. The composition recalls the theatrical and dynamic style of Rubens's school, with a palette rich in deep reds, intense blues, and carefully crafted lighting effects. This type of dramatic and stage-like treatment is in the orbit of greats such as Jacob Jordaens, Gaspar de Crayer, and Theodoor Rombouts, all of whom were influenced by Rubens's powerful pictorial language. The painting, in excellent condition, stands out both for its technical quality and for its ability to visually narrate a moment charged with emotional tension. It is presented in a wooden and gilded stucco frame that further enhances its elegance and presence. Located in an international warehouse.
