A nineteenth-century painting depicting an open-air courtly scene. A group of figures, horses, and classical architecture are arranged outside a stately residence. The foreground is occupied by a horseman, a lady, and a young servant leading the animals, while in the background a caravan accompanied by dogs can be seen. The composition combines architectural and naturalistic details, balancing the movement of the figures with the serenity of the surroundings. The light bathes the entire scene in a golden warmth, highlighting the chromatic harmony between the earthy, green, and reddish tones. The work belongs to Alejandro Séiquer López, a Spanish painter trained at the Escuela Superior de Madrid and a disciple of Carlos de Haes. Renowned for his dedication to animal painting, especially scenes with cows, horses, and rural landscapes, he was also an exponent of the fin-de-siècle decorative movement. His vigorous strokes and expressive use of light gave him a prominent place in the transition from Romantic Realism to a more loose, symbolic, and fragmentary style of painting.
