Bidspirit auction | God the Father. Catalan school
God the Father. Catalan school of Viladomat or Francesc Tramulles from the end of the 18th century - Oil on canvas depicting the Eternal Father, rendered with solemnity and spiritual depth. The central figure, with a powerful bearded face, holds the scepter in his right hand while his penetrating gaze emerges from a luminous triangle, a Trinitarian symbol. The dove of the Holy Spirit appears with outstretched wings radiating beams of light, reinforcing the symbolic and theological dimension of the scene. The brushwork is loose but precise, with a warm palette that highlights the areas of flesh against the dark background and the divine halo. The composition, contained in a gilded frame, reflects the conventions of nineteenth-century religious painting, evoking Baroque representations of the Father at his most majestic. Dimensions: 63 x 48 cm and 69 x 55 cm.
