The figure represents the Immaculate Virgin in a prayerful attitude, standing on a half-moon supported by cherubs and clouds, in keeping with traditional iconography. She wears a tight-fitting tunic and a mantle with wide folds that envelop the body in an upward movement, all richly embellished with gold floral motifs on a crimson, blue, and green background. Her face is serene, with oval features and almond-shaped eyes, framed by wavy hair that falls over her shoulders. She wears a resplendent metallic halo of flaming rays with decorative scrolls, which accentuates her sacred character. The polychromy, although worn in some areas, retains its intensity, and the embellishment reveals meticulous execution, highlighting the technical refinement of the finishes. This piece falls within the devotional sculpture of 18th-century Spanish American viceregal art, with clear Baroque influences in the dynamic mantle and the expressive treatment of the face. Its formal and spiritual quality make it a notable example of colonial religious production.
