Ecce Homo. 18th Century Italian School - Oil on canvas. Dimensions: 53 x 40 cm. Christ is depicted bust-length, his gaze lowered and the crown of thorns draped over his head, conveying a serene resignation in the face of suffering. His face, bathed in soft shadows, is outlined with delicate contours that accentuate the expression of suppressed pain. The red tunic contrasts sharply with the dark background and highlights the sacrificial nature of the figure, a symbol of his Passion. The brushwork is dense and precise in the modeling of the facial anatomy, especially the beard and hair. The neutral background focuses attention on the psychological drama of the scene. This work reflects the iconographic models of the Spanish School of the second half of the 18th century, in which a pious sensibility and an introspective approach to the figure of Christ prevail.
