Virgin of the Rosary. 16th-century Italian-Flemish school - Oil on panel. Dimensions: 65 x 52 cm. The Virgin, enthroned among clouds, holds the Child Jesus on her lap while both hold a rosary, whose oval shape frames the scene as a symbol of continuous prayer and spiritual protection. On the sides, two cherubs emerge from the clouds, directing their gaze toward the central figure. The treatment of the faces, with soft complexions and almond-shaped eyes, conveys an idealized tenderness, while the luminous halo highlights the sacredness of the protagonists. The folds of the blue mantle and the red drapery are meticulously modeled, creating broad and dynamic volumes. This work corresponds to the Valencian School of the second half of the 16th century, in which Italian influence and Mediterranean spirituality converge, especially in the development of a Marian iconography centered on the cult of the Rosary. The piece stands out for its compositional balance, its serene chromaticism and its strong symbolic charge linked to popular devotion.
