Monumental Adoration of the Shepherds on board. Flemish School of Ambres, 16th Century - Oil on panel. Dimensions: 78 x 109 cm. The scene unfolds with remarkable narrative richness: the Virgin and Saint Joseph contemplate the Child reclining on a red cushion, while a group of shepherds approach reverently, some kneeling and others in an attitude of prayer. The lighting focuses on the Child Jesus, radiating towards the figures and highlighting their absorbed faces and delicately articulated gestures. On the left, a young shepherd leans forward with an expression of wonder; on the right, a female figure observes with contemplation. The composition is defined by an interplay of diagonals and a dramatic use of chiaroscuro, typical of the expressive language of the Hispano-Flemish School of the second half of the 16th century. The firm modeling, attention to textile details, and the architectural setting reveal a refined technique and a clear Nordic influence on the devotional tradition. This work represents a successful fusion between flamenco drama and Iberian religious sensibility.
