Roman Ribera Cirera (Barcelona, ​​1849-1935), ”The Young Bourgeois” 19th century Spanish school - Oil on canvas, total dimensions: 130 x 90 cm, canvas only dimensions: 111 x 70 cm. Provenance: from an important private collection in Barcelona. One of the most renowned bourgeois painters of his time, he moved to Rome in 1873, where he remained for three years perfecting his drawing and painting techniques at the Círculo Internacional de Bellas Artes. There he came into contact with Mariano Fortuny, whose great influence was evident, particularly in the precious nature of his early works. He later moved to Paris in 1877, where he presented his work, to a magnificent reception, at the 1878 Universal Exposition. His realist technique caught the attention of the art dealer Goupil, who acquired the production rights to his work and promoted him in international markets. In 1889, he returned to Spain, settling permanently in Barcelona and exhibiting mainly at the Sala Parés and, more frequently, at the Sala Rovira. In 1902, he was elected to the Fine Arts Academy in that city, joining the Museum Board. He died in 1935 in his hometown.
