Diana the Huntress. Italian School. 19th Century - Carved Carrara marble. Dimensions: 42 x 27 x 17 cm. Sculptural bust of Diana the Huntress, a figure from Roman mythology identified with the Greek goddess Artemis, crafted with great technical precision in white marble. The work depicts the deity with her head turned to her left, her hair gathered in a high bun and pierced by a ribbon, while she wears a tunic with fine folds that elegantly reveal the underlying anatomy. The serene face, with its idealized features, conveys a noble distinction, reinforced by the purity of the marble and the simplicity of the neutral background. The execution highlights the skill in working the material, especially in the satin finish of the face and the meticulous sculpting of the hair and drapery. The piece stands on a turned base with an integrated square pedestal, completing a balanced and refined composition. This sculpture belongs to the late 19th-century Italian academic tradition, heir to Neoclassicism, which exalted the values of ideal beauty and formal harmony inspired by Greco-Roman art. A work of great aesthetic impact and ornamental quality, it combines classical rigor with the decorative sensibility of the period. Dimensions: 42 x 27 x 17 cm.
