Dressed Virgin with Silver Crown. Spanish School. 18th Century - Carved and polychromed wood sculpture, with dressed body. Dimensions: 51 x 26 cm (total height with base: 71 cm, crown: 8 x 10 cm). This devotional image of the Virgin Mary was created in Spain in the late 18th or early 19th Century. The face and hands are carved and polychromed, while the body is designed to be dressed. The figure retains original antique fabrics of floral brocade, silk, and lace, as well as period jewelry and a finely crafted original silver crown. The Virgin is depicted with her hands crossed over her chest in a gesture of devotion, marked by a serene expression and delicate facial modeling. The work reflects the late Baroque and Rococo aesthetics of Spanish Marian imagery, characterized by emotional sensitivity and ornamental richness. A refined example of private devotional art, it holds great appeal for collectors and ecclesiastical art institutions.
