Virgin of El Rocío with Child and Peruvian Crown. Spanish School. 20th Century - Polychromed carved wood, embroidered textiles and silver-plated alpaca. Dimensions 120 x 60 cm. Dressed image of the Virgin of El Rocío with the Child, crafted in polychromed wood (face and hands) in the style of late Andalusian Baroque. The Virgin stands holding the Christ Child in her arms, both crowned and dressed in richly embroidered garments adorned with floral motifs, ex-votos, rosaries and pearl necklaces, in line with traditional Marian devotional aesthetics. Her oval face, with a serene expression, is framed by an impressive radial halo of stars and a Peruvian silver-plated alpaca crown, a finely chiseled piece of religious silverwork adding monumentality and liturgical resonance. The Child, also crowned, blesses with one hand while integrated harmoniously into the composition. This work belongs to the 20th-century Spanish sculptural tradition focused on processional and domestic devotion, combining technical quality, symbolic richness and the exuberant decoration typical of widely venerated images in Andalusian and Latin American culture. A sculpture of great visual presence and devotional significance.
