East India Company draining plate, China, 18th century - White porcelain decorated with cobalt blue underglaze. Measures 43.5 x 35 cm. Asparagus draining plate composed of two elements: one openwork and the other a container, both decorated with lakeside landscapes featuring traditional architecture, hills, and vegetation. The design is clearly organized, using contrasting shades of blue to differentiate planes and create visual depth. The rim features continuous ornamentation that unifies the piece. The piece has a crack, consistent with its age. A characteristic example of functional export porcelain produced in China in the 18th century for the European market.
