Vegetable tureen covered with a continuous lakeside landscape decoration that runs across the body and lid, integrating pavilions, trees, and bodies of water into an enveloping composition. The brushwork is precise and rhythmic, combining dense areas of blue with broad, light spaces that enhance the visual flow. The piece has a visible imperfection, which does not detract from the overall decorative quality. Produced by the East India Company in the 18th century, it is representative of Chinese export porcelain intended for European table settings.
