Rain drum with zoomorphic decoration, Laos - Bronze. Dimensions: Diameter 67 cm x Height 45 cm. This truncated conical rain drum has a flat top plate decorated with four equidistant frogs, a characteristic element of this type of ritual object. The body is ornamented with a zoomorphic procession in relief, arranged in horizontal friezes that run along the drum's body, providing rhythm and visual depth. Two double rings are located on either side, functionally and decoratively integrated into the structure. The surface has an antique patina in greenish and grayish tones, with variations that highlight the reliefs and the texture of the bronze. The casting shows a solid and balanced execution, typical of Laotian ceremonial drums, conceived both as musical instruments and objects of strong symbolic significance and monumental presence. This piece comes from an old collection.
