Panel with carved angels, European School, 17th Century - Carved wood. Measures 67.5 x 29 cm. This horizontally arranged decorative panel is conceived as a richly worked frieze in relief, integrating figures of angels and cherubs within an ornamental framework of volutes, scrolls, and vegetal motifs. Two full-length angels flank the composition, with outstretched wings and dynamic poses, while cherub heads emerge from among the decorative elements, adding visual rhythm and depth. The relief is pronounced, with a vigorous treatment of volumes and a marked contrast of light and shadow that enhances the expressiveness of the whole. The surface retains a warm patina that underscores the nobility of the material and reveals the passage of time.
