Rolex GMT 6542, circa 1959 by ”Riviera Jewelry” BOX AND PAPERS, Havana - 1959, in working condition - Star Lot - Templum Auctions is pleased to present this magnificent Rolex GMT 6542 in steel, caliber 1036, possibly one of the most coveted Rolex watches worldwide and never before seen at auction. This spectacular 1959 Rolex GMT ref. 6542 ”PEPSI” features a steel case and automatic movement. In extraordinary condition and running order, this Rolex GMT model retains its original booklet, seen on only four models auctioned to date, original guarantee stamped a month before of the caseback by Riviera Jewelry, as well as its extremely rare original warranty from the renowned Riviera Jewelers in Havana in 1959 and its original stamped dial from the same year, also from Riviera Jewelers. Running and functioning perfectly as a daily watch, this GMT-Master reference was quickly nicknamed ”Pepsi” by its fans. For many years, the GMT-Master was the watch of choice for pilots and crews of international airlines such as Pan Am.
