Impressive relief of the Lion of Saint Mark in Biancone di Asiago marble, Italy, 20th century - Biancone di Asiago marble carved in low relief. Dimensions: 63 × 63 × 10 cm. Extraordinary representation of the Lion of Saint Mark, emblem of the Serenissima Republic of Venice, finely hand-carved in Biancone di Asiago marble with remarkable precision. The lion is depicted with wings extended, holding the Gospel inscribed with the Latin phrase “Pax tibi Marce, Evangelista meus”, a timeless symbol of peace and spiritual authority. Distinguished by the purity of the marble, its light tone, and fine grain, the piece exhibits exceptional craftsmanship in the rendering of the mane, wings, and sacred book. Harmoniously proportioned and of elegant presence, it can be displayed either wall-mounted or resting on a surface. Entirely intact and in excellent condition.
