Impressive relief of the Lion of Saint Mark in yellow Nembro marble, Italy, 20th century - Yellow Nembro marble carved in low relief. Dimensions: 40 × 30 × 6 cm. Exquisite relief depicting the Lion of Saint Mark, symbol of the Serenissima Republic of Venice, entirely hand-carved in yellow Nembro marble. The winged lion holds the Gospel inscribed with the Latin phrase “Pax tibi Marce, Evangelista meus”, an emblem of peace and divine wisdom. The piece stands out for the refined carving of the mane, wings, and body, as well as for the warm golden hue of the marble, which enhances the depth and elegance of the relief. Of balanced composition and fine craftsmanship, it can be displayed either wall-mounted or resting on a surface. In excellent condition. Provenance: Northern Italy, private collection.
