Exceptional Carved Bone Timor Oceania 19th Century - Asian Art - 21.5 x 13.5 x 4 cm. Indonesia, 19th-early 20th century. Carved from the top of an ox skull, the mask depicts a human face with a somber expression marked by wide-set eyes, a broad nose, and a turned-up, crescent-shaped mouth. The cheeks, chin, and forehead feature geometric incisions. The neck is adorned with a band-like collar incised over an elaborate geometric design with circular elements, rhombuses, and angular scrolls.
